Hot Season Challenges Students’ Learning

As the hot season approaches in Cambodia, students in the rural areas face several challenges in their learning. Lasting from March to May, temperatures can soar to 35-40°C, making daily activities more difficult. One major challenge is commuting to school, especially for students who travel long distances by bike. The intense heat makes the journey exhausting and uncomfortable. Additionally, younger students are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, leading to missed classes and classroom disruptions.

To address these issues, our CTEP teachers are taking proactive steps. They encourage students to stay hydrated by bringing water bottles, wearing long-sleeve shirts, and using hats for sun protection while commuting. Teachers also educate students on the effects of extreme heat and how to protect themselves. Furthermore, we are checking and ensuring that classrooms are equipped with enough fans to create a comfortable learning environment, allowing students to focus and study effectively.

With these efforts, we hope teachers and students in the rural areas can continue their teaching and learning smoothly despite the season's challenges.
